CONTINUUM – DIY clothing

I got inspired by the work of Mary Huang, CONTINUUM:

Her work shows how a single cloth can be turned into many different shapes. I thought this dress is both practical and conceptual, so I wanted to try to create something that has both aspects. Her project is all about connecting software’s technology into a real life form.

Since I did not have much time or technique to create an actual, tangible project, I decided to draw my idea out and create an idea sketch. Also, my idea sketch is, unlike the original project, is very analogue. However the project consists of the same aspect of the original piece.

The left side of the image shows an overall image of my project. The right side (the four boxes) shows the possible components that could make up the connection of the cloth pieces.

The idea for my project was to create a DIY cloth with a bunch of fabric pieces that have different mechanical connections attached to them.
